Mikaela Maldonado, DVM
Dr. Maldonado is originally from Philadelphia, but spent most of her teenage years around Charlotte, North Carolina. Her love for horses started at a very young age. She was always asking for horse toys, boots and hats, and begging her parents for riding lessons as soon as she could speak. Dr. Maldonado started riding at a hunter jumper barn when she was 8 years old, and by age twelve, she got her first horse, Onyx, who is still with her today in Colorado.
Dr. Maldonado was lucky to start working with veterinarians who came to the barn early on and quickly realized her passion for medicine and helping people understand and help their own animals. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University and also completed her DVM there as well.
Dr. Maldonado loves every part of veterinary medicine, but the aspects that fuel her the most are sports medicine and lameness, equine rehabilitation, research and client relationships.
In her free time she enjoys exercising. Dance and yoga are her activities of choice. She also enjoys reading fictional stories, cooking meals with her partner and attending live music events.
