Julie McLaughlin, DVM

Dr. Julie McLaughlin, DVM

Dr. McLaughlin grew up in Connecticut and found her passion for animals by following in the footsteps of her role model and dad, a small animal veterinarian, from a young age. She was first introduced to the equestrian world through attending a horse camp in third grade. This confirmed her love for horses and she soon became interested in dressage and eventing. Dr. McLaughlin is a former member of Pony Club where she learned equine husbandry, veterinary work and attended horse shows. She attended UMass Amherst to pursue a degree in Pre-Veterinary Science where she worked closely with a herd of Belted Galloway cattle and competed in the Intercollegiate Dressage Association all four years. Dr. McLaughlin then attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University where her passion for equine veterinary medicine grew as a large animal student ICU worker. In addition, she spent a summer at Littleton Equine Medical Center gaining a variety of case exposure in the field and ICU as a summer veterinary student. She was fascinated by the collaboration of the team to work up challenging cases and offer high quality medicine. Dr. McLaughlin’s primary interests are in ophthalmology, internal medicine, neonatology and general wellness. Her goals are to further explore her equine ophthalmology interests through residency training or work in a mixed animal practice with a high equine caseload. When not working, Dr. McLaughlin enjoys running with her Irish Setters, Charlotte and Callie, exploring national parks with her mom and spending quality time with friends. She is  excited to return to Littleton Equine as a veterinarian and form relationships with the clients and horses in the region!
